Point level switches

Point level switches are available in various sizes, mounting, material and sensing technologies. It is used for high and low-level alarms, overfills and pumps controls. It is also used to see detect full or empty state. It is good practice to fit high- and low-level alarm switches to tanks in addition to another measurement device. 


A switching command starts or stops filling equipment such as pumps or conveyors. Point level detection systems can be used in liquids, pastes, powders or coarse bulk solids. Point level switches outputting a binary signal can be integrated into a process control system.

Level sensor

The level sensor is a device for determining the level of fluid, liquid or any other substances that flow in open or closed system. The substances include liquids like water, oil, slurries, etc as well as solids in granular/powder form (solids which can flow). There are two types of level measurements, continuous and point level measurements. The level sensors are usually connected to an output unit for transmitting the results to a monitoring system. Current technologies employ wireless transmission of data to the monitoring system, which is useful in elevated and dangerous locations.
Radar level transmitter

Radar level transmitter is used even in extreme conditions. It is a safe solution. The micro pilot can also be used in hygienic applications for non-contact level measurement. Micro pilot radar level transmitters reused in different industry segments. It is used to give continuous level measurements in liquids and solids.
Radar level transmitter is mainly used for detection of level in continuous level measurement applications. Radar level transmitters provide the non-contact type of level measurement in case of liquids in a metal tank. A radar level transmitter includes:
  • A transmitter with an inbuilt solid-state oscillator
  • A radar antenna
  • A receiver along with a signal processor and an operator interface
Ultrasonic level transmitters

An ultrasonic level transmitter is mounted on the top of the tank and transmits an ultrasonic pulse down the tank. This pulse is traveling down is reflected back to the transmitter from the liquid surface. The time taken by the sound wave to return back is directly proportional to the distance between the piezoelectric sensor and the material in the tank.

Level Transmitters

Level Transmitters are sensors with an electrical transmission output for remote indication of liquid, powder or bulk level. There are different types of level transmitters available such as Capacitive, float, mechanical, submersible, and ultrasonic models. This is different to a level switch which only alarms when the level of material (liquid or bulk-solid) reaches a predetermined level.
